The First Peoples Principles of Learning guide my teaching by reminding me that learning is holistic, experiential, and deeply connected to relationships, identity, and place. These principles emphasize that learning takes time, requires patience, and happens through exploration, reflection, and connection to the land. As an Indigenous educator, I see the FPPL as a framework that honours students’ lived experiences and cultural strengths. They encourage me to create a classroom where students feel safe, valued, and supported in their learning journeys. The FPPL help me design meaningful, authentic learning experiences that build community, foster belonging, and support the whole child.
